Great Modern Novels

Hugh Hewitt has asked if there are any great modern novels that are worth reading more than once. I can think of only a few books that I can recommend reading more than once and they are all by C. S. Lewis (today is his birthday). They are The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and The Chronicles of Narnia (full disclosure: I'm reading the entire Chronicles to our daughters and we've only made it through the first two volumes but we're going to read the rest of them). Hugh has recommended The Lord of the Rings. I've had a lot of recommendations for that as well as This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti. I'll be interested to see what other bloggers recommend.
